Tailwaggers. For the discerning tail since 1996.
We are a boutique style doggy daycare offering a very personalized service to both our two legged and four legged clients with grooming, dog walking, daycare and more in the west end of Toronto.

Welcome to Tailwaggers. Established in June 1996, Tailwaggers was born for the love of dogs.

Tailwaggers is a boutique Doggy Daycare located in the heart of the Junction in the west end of Toronto. We offer personalized care to each of our members. Unlike the bigger factory style daycare centres, our main objective, since 1996, has been high quality not high volume. This is to ensure that your pooch receives all the love, attention, training, playing, walking and of course...belly rubs that they deserve.

Our Customers Say it Best.

Meet the Tailwaggers.

Due to the greater demands of daily life, many pet owners are unable to spend as much quality time with their furry babies as they would like. Extended working hours and family demands often result in long, lonely days at home for our four legged friends. Without the proper exercise and socialization, dogs can begin to display behavioural issues such as needless barking, destructive behaviour and separation anxiety. Tailwaggers provides peace of mind for our two legged clients and a variety of services for our four legged clients guaranteed to make tails wag!

In times of joy, all of us wished we possessed a tail we could wag." ~W.H. Auden

In 1994, Adria Kowalsky began walking dogs, part time, while attending U of T to become a teacher. However, instead of teaching, her love of her pooches inspired her to open Tailwaggers in 1996. (One of the first dog walking services in Toronto). Her love and passion of dogs has only increased over the years and in 2010 Tailwaggers expanded to include a Doggy Daycare & Grooming Salon!

Erin has over 10+ years of grooming experience. Her gentle touch and care does not go unnoticed by all of the pooches she grooms and makes beautiful. As the first official employee hired by Tailwaggers in 2010, she also has developed a close relationship with all of the dogs in daycare.

As a young child, Shania has always known that working with dogs is what she was born to do. Shania started at Tailwaggers in 2013 as an enthusiastic co-op student who couldn’t get enough of the dogs! Within the last couple of years she has graduated into a full-time staff member in which the pooches all love and adore.

As sweet as can be and one of a kind, Jennifer (aka Sassy) started out as an eager co-op student in 2016. She was one of those girls who would stay passed her hours or until closing time to offer a helping hand with a smile and to love the pooches. Being a dedicated family person it is clear that she has a huge heart and would make an amazing addition to any business. How luck are we to have this Sassy Girl?

At Tailwaggers we require your pooch to have the following vaccines: Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. We also ask that all dogs are free of any communicable diseases for 30 days. If your dog is coughing, sneezing, vomiting or has diarrhea, please keep him/her at home to prevent other dogs from getting sick.

What are the benefits of Doggy Daycare?

At Tailwaggers, you will have peace of mind knowing that your dog’s day will be organized to ensure an incredibly positive, stimulating and fun experience. In our daycare positive interaction and socialization between the dogs and staff is encouraged and practiced. Your pooch will return home happy, well exercised, stress free and dreaming of romping with his buddies the very next day!

Do you have a maximum capacity for dogs?

Here at Tailwaggers our goal has been high quality not high volume, for this reason we have a 25 dog capacity on a daily basis. We recommend pre-booking your dog’s spot in daycare.

What does the 2 hour assessment entail?

Before your furry friend can join our Tailwaggers family, we require a 2-hour daycare assessment to gage your dog’s temperament to determine if Tailwaggers Doggy Daycare is a right fit for your pet. During the 2-hour assessment we introduce your dog to our staff as well as other dogs in the daycare. If your dog passes the assessment, he/she is welcome to join our crew!

Dog Walking

Do you offer anything for puppies under 4 months and older dogs?

We offer Backyard Visits for your pooch. This is a 15 minute potty break and/or lunch feeding (belly rubs too of course!).

How long are the group walks?

Our group walks are one hour (excluding car time) rain or shine!

Do you walk the dogs in all weather conditions?

If conditions are severe i.e snowstorm, excessive heat etc, walks may be shortened or turned into backyard visits.

Is there a meet and greet involved?

Yes, our dog walker will go to your home to meet both you and your pooch to determine your dog’s needs and to better know you, your dog and their environment.

Where do you take the dogs for their group walks?

We take our pooches to neighborhood parks and fields. All dogs are kept on-leash.

What other grooming services other than a full groom do you offer?

We offer nail trimming, hand scissoring, de-matting, ear cleanings, bath & tidy. For our daycare dogs, we offer Primp N’ Plays (full day of daycare for the price of a half day + the cost of the groom).

Do you take walk-in appointments?

Due to our busy schedule we do not accept walk-in appointments. We recommend booking your dog’s groom 2 weeks in advance.

How long will it take to groom my dog?

Every dog is different & has different needs. Our groomers work on one dog at a time to ensure a calm, pleasant grooming experience for your pooch. Due to this, your dog’s appointment time can vary.

How much will it cost to groom my dog?

Prices will vary depending on your dogs breed, size, temperament and spa treatments they require. Pricing will be determined once our groomer assess your pooch!
